In the help and advice section....I have asked a question about my annual earnings.....and have a guess!!!

I wonder who will get closest....:) :) and I wonder if anyone else could add up their 2011 earnings and see if they came close? Just curious to know if I make more or less or about the same as everyone else?

it's in my article on Survey Knowhow.....:) :) but you all probably know how already so haven't read it?! :(

Why I like surveys: They are fun, interesting and lucrative, not to mention the fact that they can lead to amazing things!

Nice guess, George....I wish!! Actually, oddly enough I was VERY VERY VERY close to you!! Now I have given the game away, haven't I?? It was £1916.78 actually. I excelled my 2010 earnings by loads, as 2010 was only £1121.85, very poor....I wonder what the leap year will bring us, Georgie? :)

Oh, and thanks for the "young lizzieann" - I really appreciate that, looking and feeling the way I do after my excess of Christmas dinner, etc., etc.

You are top of my birthday card list! :) :)

Mine was a bit lower, but due to personal circumstances not as high as I wanted, this year going to really try and see if I can break the £2,000 mark!

I really only started this survey lark in October, slowly adding new sites as I figured out what the time commitment would be, and my boredom-tolerance for all those 'strongly agree', 'slightly agree', 'neither agree or disagree' questions.

So far, 15 survey companies have invited me to surveys at least once, and the total promised earnings to the end of 2011 reached just short of £150. Of this, I actually redeemed £74.08, from only 4 companies.

Bearing in mind that this amount included both start-you-off incentives and the Christmas slowdown, I find it difficult to estimate what a full year would be worth. Perhaps £600.

I'd be interested to know to what extent you (all) find your survey earnings are roughly proportional to the number of sites you're a member of, or contrarily whether they show a Pareto distribution (sometimes known as an 80/20 distribution). By which I mean, do you find that the lion's share of earnings come from a small minority of companies? My guess is the latter, that some companies send more surveys and are more generous in their rewards than others, and they have largely risen to the top of the heap. But is that right?

The latter, I would say, definitely.....you get to know over time who are most generous.....but I am with nearly 150 different companies and oddly, out of the earnings I had for last year, there was a generous proportion in winnings in prize draws.....I must work out exactly how much...but over £200 of it was winnings! I will address your other questions when I have a little more time! :)

Also, oddly enough, the survey companies that send you out the most surveys such as Valued Opinions, Mysurvey, Ipsos, Survey Network....are not always the best paying ones though....for example you can get $5 for one 15 minute survey from BrandInstitute!! so you just have to decide if you want little and often, or not so often and large amounts which get paid into your paypal account (with Brand, anyway!)

After awhile, you learn to immediately open and complete surveys from your favourite companies and your earnings can build up pretty quickly. I used to keep really meticulous records with dates of redemptions, amount of time it took to receive redemptions and all product tests, etc. I still keep detailed records, but I tend to use email folders to organize myself - like AWAITING ACTION PAY for my pending redemptions, and SURVEY INVITATIONS for ones I have not had time to complete yet....it makes for an easier life....as your survey "portfolio" builds up, though, you will discover the method that suits you best to keep organized.

Please, however, do not forget to have fun and enjoy the surveys you do...it certainly is not all about money....and if it is, for you, then you will find your boredom/tolerance level will increase and proportionately your interest levels will decrease and you will get really fed up and earn much less...have fun with what you do...and if you are enthusiastic enough and committed enough, you will discover that companies will begin to invite you to the forums, product tests, etc., which pay more and are much more interesting and rewarding....look at Tez's invitation (above)....things are really looking up!! Wait until you do your first discussion group and get paid £75 for one hour's work, then say you are fed up with surveys!!! LOL :)
