I hate the fact that it cost you £145. for a licence but then there is still nothing to watch so you have to either get a freeview box, cable or sky, which means more money, which half of us dont have,

I do actually agree with the TV Licence. To keep the BBC ad free is vital, I love BBC programmes. Dont forget I think this funds BBC Radio as well, which I also love.

About me: I am 62, retired and have never married. I live in a little cottage in the Yorkshire Dales with my presant cat Sarah.
Why I like surveys: Apart from my relatives considering me to be an opinionated old whatsit, they give something to do and the cash helps with the cat treats.

I've always paid it directly by direct debit in monthly amounts so i don't notice it. Also since the reception is so bad in the Yorkshire Dales I have a Sky aerial and box which I got 10years ago ( cost £100 fitted) and I get freesat (I dont pay SKY). So its cost,at presant, another £10/year. Possiibly if you know a man who knows a man, nudge nudge wink wink You might get it cheaper!!!
Apart from BBC1 news I do not watch any BBC programes or listen to any BBC radio so I do object paying the licence.

Why I like surveys: They are fun, interesting and lucrative, not to mention the fact that they can lead to amazing things!

Sadly, Pompski, the BBC is not what it was....you really would not recognise the old faithful service that used to be the BBC, it has changed so much in latter years....they do not even release their own older programmes on DVD anymore, but sell them off to other companies to release....I agree with Crusty, the only way I would ever buy a licence is by direct debit and I just got a letter from them saying that it is fixed for 5 years now....so I guess the BEEB will get their money no matter what...I strongly object to it. I have Sky too, but just the basic package, nothing fancy and it is only £25 a month.

I pay mine by Direct Debit too and so don't really notice it either.
We have freeview all over the house and a recordable one in the living room, we love it as it gives extra channels for free and have had it for years, i can honestly say ive never missed Sky at all since we had it removed. I can always find something to watch.

Pay mine quarterly but have to agree with Lizzie that the Beeb is not what it used to be.

I have to admit that I have just received a communication from the licencing authority, advising me that I no longer have to pay the licence fee. There are some advantages to anno domini but I cannot think of many others.
