By: tracey dixon Date: 25 Jan 2012 2:25 PM Just under three years ago i bought a 42" HD ready plasma tv what a treat bought it from argos at the metrocentre gateshead cost £499.00 and the woman that served us even persuaded me to take out the breakdown cover its only £200.00 and covers everything so i thought can't go wrong with that now today when i try to get someone to come and look at my tv as the little dots on light background make the screen look funny so the guy on the phone says if its a pixel fault we dont cover pixels or we can send a guy but if it is pixels you will be charged between £30.00-60.00 depending on the tech guy so what does your £200.00 get you nothing yet i will get intouch with head office though do not breakdown cover waste of money WELL DONE ARGOS |

LizzieAnn About me: I love surveys! You can't tell from reading any of my posts, though, can you?! I am a full time worker with two children and a full time house husband, are you jealous? Why I like surveys: They are fun, interesting and lucrative, not to mention the fact that they can lead to amazing things! By: LizzieAnnDate: 25 Jan 2012 2:31 PM Poor Tracey, what a way to treat a customer! I would be writing a strongly worded letter - or at least reading the small print on your cover to see where you stand, then writing accordingly.
tracey dixon By: tracey dixonDate: 25 Jan 2012 2:39 PM Argos do use Domestic & General for there breakdown cover but everyone ask to read the leaflet to see what is covered with the insurance before you buy it .

By: LizzieAnnDate: 25 Jan 2012 3:14 PM Tracey, I have given some thought to your dilemma, and I feel sure that under consumer rights, your year long guarantee should cover you for EVERYTHING for the first year. I really would state your case in the strongest terms in a letter and hope you get some satisfaction. I think the first year is a MANUFACTURER'S GUARANTEE and as such, should definitely cover everything.
tracey dixon By: tracey dixonDate: 25 Jan 2012 4:09 PM sorry didn't see that bit my cover was i think for 3 years 1+2 or 4years 1+3 just waiting for them to send my policy to check but one of those to.

By: LizzieAnnDate: 25 Jan 2012 4:25 PM I totally agree with you about the basic customer rights being forgotten, George, and it is interesting that you had trouble in the same store. Lightning does strike in the same place twice!
Terence Raymond Lewis About me: Hi, i'm tez, i am 23 years old, i live in blackpool and come from stoke, i support manchester united football club, love to spend time with friends and have a laugh. Why I like surveys: Giving my opinion, great rewards. By: Terence Raymond LewisDate: 25 Jan 2012 5:07 PM I created a topic earlier this month with my HDTV it was brought brand new from comic it arrived and it had a faulty pixel, It's a shame that it comes to this, we have the breakdown cover but they just wouldnt change it, so we demanded a refund, and they did it, They say it needs to have so many pixels before it can be replaced, i don't know why, it is annoying specially with dots everything and if it's flashing it catches you're eye, i would suggest you read the terms and conditions from where you're tv is manufactured.

crusty About me: I am 62, retired and have never married. I live in a little cottage in the Yorkshire Dales with my presant cat Sarah. Why I like surveys: Apart from my relatives considering me to be an opinionated old whatsit, they give something to do and the cash helps with the cat treats. By: crustyDate: 26 Jan 2012 7:47 AM When I moved to the Dales 10 years ago I bought A new washing washing machine, a tumble dryer and a cooker from a local dealer. I asked about additional warranty covers and was told don't bother he said if they go wrong we'll come round and fix it.The initial cost including delivery and plumbing and wirering everything in. I did have something go wrong with the washing machine about 5 years ago, I rang them and they fixed it the same day and no cost.Although the initail cost might have been less had i bought them from a big dealer, there is something to be said for a local dealer.
serena About me: I am a housewife currently, and my husband and 2 adult sons work full time, so i look after the house and finances. Why I like surveys: I enjoy giving my opinion and earning a little extra to help out with the shopping now and again and it keeps me occupied. By: serenaDate: 26 Jan 2012 11:37 AM Thats excellent service Crusty. Shame they all don't do that!

By: LizzieAnnDate: 26 Jan 2012 11:49 AM It is always a good idea to buy local, Crusty, absolutely agree! We bought an electric fire from our local dealer and have had it for nearly 10 years....it has gone wrong twice and each time all it required was to be taken into their workshop and given a strip down and good clean out of fluff and it was fine afterwards...not that we do not dust it regularly you understand!! it is just that there are parts that hoovers cannot reach!
