I was asked to confirm my email address by clicking on a link in an email, which I did. Got told this "Hurrah, you have confirmed your email and are not a liar". No idea how to take that, was bit shocked.

Just a security thing I guess Ros. I'm sure some hackers out there try to create multiple accounts with the same survey panels and use software that automatically clicks on buttons. They are just checking to see if you are human Ros and not a computer programme.

I logged in to my Mindmover account the other day just to check it as I haven't received any surveys from them in a long time. I too was asked to confirm my email address and got told the same thing and was a bit shocked too.

Do they send you surveys or do you have to log in regularly? :)

They generally send you them, but i would log in once/twice a week to do the mini polls and anything you may be interested in doing, this shows them you are keen then.

Why I like surveys: They are fun, interesting and lucrative, not to mention the fact that they can lead to amazing things!

How odd...this must be unusual and new.

The reason behind this is to do with the fact that I believe something called Roboform exists and it fills in forms automatically -I believe it is some sort of software you can use to complete surveys for you and sign up to websites and suchlike....I don't really know of anything more than that about it, but it has been misused before and that is why. Maybe someone knows more about it than I do? :)

Lizzie, although I haven't heard of Roboform, I've heard of things called 'bots' (short for robots, I think) that people set up to answer things like surveys, and seek out addresses they can send spam to - I think it's why some sites ask you to fill in a security code, as a robot wouldn't be able to do this. Someone, correct me if I'm wrong about that ;-)

I have to say that I'm quite taken aback at the use of the word "liar" - isn't that just a bit too strong a word? Couldn't they just say "thank you for confirming your email, and we are pleased to confirm that you are who you say you are" or something similarly tasteful? I'd feel quite affronted if I came across such a message!

That's how I felt when I saw the message, KatieN

Roboform does not fill surveys in for you. It's a very useful bit of software. I use it all the time. It's just a form filler, but it could hardly fill in surveys, just things like passwords or personal information such as name and address, if you want it to.

Oh, thanks for clarifying that Lissa, I was not sure.

Thanks also Katie for clearing up that as well....I agree that Liar is too strong a word also and I would be very affronted to receive such a message!! :(
