Take the points now, or later?

I took a survey for Harris Poll today which brought me to 1640 points: 1600 points are all that's needed for a £10 Amazon voucher. However....for 2500 points I can get a £25 Amazon voucher - that's quite a difference isn't it? for a mere 900 points more I can fare so much better; but do I cash out quickly or save up? Vote now people...lol!

Depends if you need the voucher, sorry can't help as I tend to cash out as quickly as possible just in case they "disappear", been burnt before!

Hi Katie
I personally would save for the better voucher, it makes sense to me. I have always saved points and have never been burnt, after all you didnt have any points when you started and now you only need another 900 for the extra £15.00....A lot of people on here do tend to cash out as soon as they reach redemption for fear of losing points but it doesnt cost you anything to complete the surveys only your time and if you are willing to take the chance and save them for larger amounts it makes sense.

Thank you Fikinz and Janet....I think I'm going to risk it and hold out for the bigger voucher; it does seem like quite a difference! I appreciate what you say about being burnt, Fikinz, but I think Harris are quite a reputable company, and worth a risk. As Janet says, all I've given is my time.

I'll keep you posted. :-))

I'm in similar situation, I have 1840 points and think I may as well hang on for the £25 voucher :)

Harris seem to be a bit more frequent lately, so maybe Jilly and I will make it to the 2500 mark before too long...We'll keep you posted! ;-)

I agree with everyone else who says 'aim for the 2500'. I hadn't noticed the higher reward was worth so much more, but - alas - it's very much not a pressing concern for me, as Harris has only ever sent me one 100 pt survey since registering last year. I accept the reason may be that I am not particularly demographically interesting, but when I looked at my profile I saw my primary language was inexplicably listed as 'Other'. Could that be it? I suspect not many surveys are targeted at fluent speakers of Other.

Its an easy mistake to make Botec, look at me, i did not realize that on Pureprofile my personal profile was wrong and i did not get any surveys from them, until i had a look through everything to double check and amended it, then i got surveys regularly! So it just goes to show that sometimes its not always their fault, but with Pureprofile as i have said before i do not know how this happened as you fill these out when you register as standard?

About me: I love surveys! You can't tell from reading any of my posts, though, can you?! I am a full time worker with two children and a full time house husband, are you jealous?
Why I like surveys: They are fun, interesting and lucrative, not to mention the fact that they can lead to amazing things!

I will never, ever, ever take the bigger voucher because I always get really concerned the company will mystically disappear overnight...I always redeem as soon as I hit the redemption threshold in any of the panels.....it is vital to realize that these companies are on tenuous ground, some of them, and I am not saying Harris is, but the economic climate being what it is, things change so rapidly that you have to get it while the going is good!! :) I have always advocated that! :)

But if you do hold out for the bigger voucher, for goodness sake, make sure you check regularly for surveys or site problems.....then go for the smaller one while you still can....you can get indications of problems like log-in difficulties...:(

Will do, Lizzie. I share your view about cashing out as soon as possible - but it looks soooooooooooo tempting! I'm doing the same thing with MySurvey at the moment; I've clocked up just over 3000 points and I think I need to get to 3440 (or something like that) for a £30 Paypal payout...Not sure I'll carry on saving though; I may opt for the £20 Paypal.

I'll let you all know how my gamble is going though ;-)

I have just checked my profile on Harris and found too that my language is 'other', so thanks to Botec for pointing me in the right direction.

Janmal, glad to be of limited help. Is everyone else listed as a primary English speaker, where appropriate? I'd not be surprised if Other just means that no alternative language was provided.

I've also noticed that Harris has my birthdate wrong, written out in full but interpreted back to front, mm/dd as dd/mm. I don't think I entered it incorrectly in the first place, though I suppose I may have done. But in any case, I fix it and by the next day it has reverted back. It's a very persistent error.
