Inflation has dropped to 3.6% - does anyone feel any better off than this time last year?

About me: I am 62, retired and have never married. I live in a little cottage in the Yorkshire Dales with my presant cat Sarah.
Why I like surveys: Apart from my relatives considering me to be an opinionated old whatsit, they give something to do and the cash helps with the cat treats.

I am definitely worse off than this time last year and the inflation rate on 14th february 2011 was also 3.6%. It was the varying inflation rates during the past 12 months that made me worse off.

In January last year it was 4% - I just wondered if anyone felt any better off...

No, because now VAT is not added in to the figure, so it is being calculated differently.

About me: I love surveys! You can't tell from reading any of my posts, though, can you?! I am a full time worker with two children and a full time house husband, are you jealous?
Why I like surveys: They are fun, interesting and lucrative, not to mention the fact that they can lead to amazing things!

You are so right, Fi, it is about massaging the figures so they look good to the public, I think, a bit of PR from our leaders!! A wee bit like the way they calculate the unemployment figures, I think!! :)
