NewVista Remdemption Cheque

A couple of weeks ago I realised that I'd made it (at long last!) to redemption with NV - I also realised that they pay by cheque, and that my shortened name of 'Katie' will not be accepted by my bank, as my account is in my full name: 'Catherine'.

I immediately contacted them and they said (quite rightly) that the cheque would be made out to my membership name, and that I ought to change my details if I wished to receive the cheque in my full name. My cheque arrived today and, guess what? It's made out to 'Katie'!!!

I'm fuming, but it's mostly directed at myself for being such a numptie! I made sure with other cheque/BACS paying panels to give my full name 'Catherine', but I'm so used to being Katie that I simply forgot with NV :-(

I do hope that they will rectify the issue....Has anyone had any similar problem?

No, but it is an interesting one because my username is often LizzieAnn and I have never had a cheque made out to Lizzie.....my full name is Lisette. I don't think I have ever known anyone to have a similar problem, but surely if the surname is correct your bank would not quibble over this? Why not see your bank first and then ask NVL how you can go about rectifying this? :)

Thanks Lizzie; but, unfortunately, banks are very strict about the names on accounts and it must be exact :-(

For the panels where you are LizzieAnn, you've probably recorded your full name on your details but then selected a username, perhaps?

Yup, you are right. I agree, banks are much stricter than they used to be and in particular regarding money laundering as my daughter has just opened an account and they want her to bring in a driving licence or passport neither of which she has! So what happens now?

Good luck, Katie, with a resolution - perhaps you could phone NVL? I am sorry, I don't seem to have a phone number for them. Maybe someone else might?

Thank you, Janet! I'll give them a ring on Monday morning.

Lizzie, your daughter should be ok if she produces her birth certificate - next best thing when you have no driving licence or passport. The bank may ask her to have it certified (probably by the family doctor, or your family solicitor if you have one) and that should suffice - at least it did a few years ago anyway ;-)

Thanks for that Katie. Well done, she thought of that, but I didn't think they would accept it. :)

Marriage certificate of the parents is also needed.
A few years ago, I had the same problem. Didn't have a driving licence or passport.

You need to prove the address she lives at. So a letter that is addressed to her. Also one of the parents bank statements (that's if you are living in the same house), credit card statements, ISA/Savings account statements are also handy.

Hope that helps you. =)

Thank you for that Angel, interesting, I did not think of that....I wonder if it helps that I have been with the same bank for nearly 10 years? That is why I thought we would go along together.

Sorry for hijacking your topic, Katie! :(

I just missed the monthly payout but they still paid me quicker than it said on the website, Tez, so don't hold to the strict times....you never know! :)

I'm happy to say that I have now had confirmation that they will re-issue my cheque! All's well that ends well, thankfully.

BTW, Lizzie, I felt that I'd received my cheque in record time - less than two weeks after reaching redemption. I thought that was quite good really. I hope the re-issued cheque arrives as quickly as the last one.

Terence, I hope you get to cash-out point soon - incidentally, even though I do sometimes think that getting close to redemption means that things slow down, in fairness to newvista, I had a bumper load of surveys once I got to £40....Praise where praise is due ;-)

I think that is complete flannel about things slowing down when you get near redemption - it just feels like it because it is frustrating that you want your money!! :)

Great that you got a good result, Katie. :) and yes, I got your email. I might have finished reading it by this evening LOL :) :) lovely lot of info in there, girl! :)

I've got your email now too, Lizzie! Thank you so much. I'll have time over the next few days to give you a decent reply - as I'm confined to quarters for a while!!! Hmmmmmpphh.
