Carousels turning into roundabouts!

Our cutlery carousel is getting done, faded, plastic peeling off, pretty bad, so we decided to look around for a replacement. On Ebay we found a lovely red set only £9.50 inclusive of postage but apparently small cutlery knives are considered to be offensive weapons!!!! You can go online and buy a crossbow, sword or spear on Ebay apparently with ease, but if you try to buy a cutlery carousel (which by the way I have been totally unable to find anywhere else in a physical shop) they take you to a security page in which you have to put in your credit card details in order to make sure you are who you say you are and not an axe murderer....although how do they know? Then they say it is OK to ship to you if you check out. Tell me how this is secure and how does it help them to establish your guilt or innocence....and also, how do you murder someone using a knife from a cutlery carousel?

I say it is all swings and roundabouts.....but no merry-go-round!

I remember once being sent to Tesco for my work as we needed new stuff for the staff kitchen. I picked up a Tesco Value cutlery set, at the cost of about £2.99. When I got to the till, they refused to sell me it as I had no ID! I pointed out the knifes were practically blunt and I could do more damage smashing one of the plates out the dinner set I was also buying and had to go back without the cutlety. I got the mickey taken out of me for weeks!

I went to one of those 'self service' checkouts with a cheese knife and the alarms went off and I had to wait till a member of staff was there to say it was ok for me to buy the knife
madness !!

Received the carousel today and believe me, I don't know what the fuss was about because if I tried to murder anyone with one of those knives, it would be me who copped it, it would bend in half....what a load of old rubbish. Is it just me or is everything "new" these days of poorer quality, and more useless than the old version you are replacing?!

Cutlery used to be high quality stainless steel, made in Sheffield the same as spanners, screwdrivers etc but now cheap and nasty made in the far east.It doesn't last and therefore need replacing quicker. False economy.

Totally agree, we bought a new set of cutlery in Sainsburys a year or so back and I have had to already bin several pieces as they broke from the handles and were not strong enough to use for three people who are average adults who are not particularly overweight or strong and one is disabled and weak but still the cutlery broke.

I would say all metal cutlery might be better than plastic handled stuff, but I love the carousel idea, which we have always had, not anymore though, it is rubbish!
