Toluna seems to be the only site where free speech is censored which is a disgrace in this day and age,and its the only site i know that actively threatens its members!

They have changed the way they allow people to start up polls etc and have a new Moderation guide http://ukblog.toluna.com/2011/08/11/toluna-moderation-guide/ , so many people will be complaining that they aren't allowed to say what they want , just a suggestion , go read the guide it may answer some of your questions .

hello tracey harman i assume your a toluna member but for how long? ive been on the site nearly 5 years and ive watched it go downhill all the way ,from waiting months for vouchers to no offering you 75 points for a mini poll but only coughing up 15, i know the rules but that does not stop the deleteing stuff at their whim ,how they expect people to stay on their site is beyond me even a simple spelling mistake can get you a email warning you of your misconduct!! crazy eh????

Hi Briskem 1 , I've been a member since 2003 , and I do agree it has changed for the worse but then i don't really participate in writing polls and opinions , i find it more lucrative to just do the sponsored polls , that way no one can pull me over my bad grammer .Just last week got to 80,000 points another 8 week wait for my vouchers , but as its money for nothing I won't be complaining .

I wonder really if polls and opinions are not a way just to get a good community going....if that is something which makes people come out with daft things then of course more moderation is required, and I agree with Tracey, the sponsored polls are the best idea because they are OK for extra points, but the surveys themselves have thousands of points attached to them, so the opinions are really a bit daft most of the time, but of course, whatever tickles your fancy...

hi lizzieAnn that seems a good point except its amazing how many times you get screened out after spending 20 mins ..toluna does not rock my boat but the people on there do , all genuine [except the week-end clones] when moderation seems to cost too much for toluna to be bothered about ...mon -fri 9 to 5 !

Briskem is absolutely correct, what is happening on Toluna goes way beyond moderation, it is downright censorship. There are two sets of rules - the published ones and the ones that the moderators make up as they go along. It is actually forbidden to mention the name Toluna - I just had a topic removed for doing just that. Moderation is being used as a method of preventing members from discussing the shortcomings of Toluna, which include taking up to 6 months to send out vouchers (as opposed to a promised 6 weeks - already longer than industry standard), months to respond to enquiries to helpdesk (if they ever reply at all), repeated problems with the router (tells you you didn't qualify for a survey you just completed, doesn't pay the promised reward even when it acknowledges your successful completion) and inviting people by email to take surveys and then telling them they don't qualify). The latest ban is on mentioning an American "troll" who has been plaguing the site for over a year, usually "out of hours" - the site is moderated only 9-5 UK time so most weekends we have one or more entities created by this guy rampaging round the site abusing people. The moderators rarely ever spot this absuer, of course, they are too busy looking for wicked people who are criticising Toluna. The site used to be fun, despite all the shortcomings of Toluna as a survey company, but this censorship means it is now a waste of time. What's the point of posting a topic - or giving an opinion on a topic - if it's likely to be arbitrarily removed?

You have some very strong feelings on this Tasha, have you tried customer services on toluna? I have always found them quite good, and despite the length of time they take to send out vouchers, they do send them out, even though you have a long wait. Not like not being paid at all, as is the case with some panels. As for the community, if the moderation was as good on there as it is on here, it would be lovely! YSP are you thinking of acquiring a new survey panel company in the near future...why don't you make Toluna an offer they can't refuse?!

I left Toluna over a year ago for all reasons being mentioned here. If you feel this way about it, close your account, afterall, it is their right to do as they please with the site, as it is your right to be a member.

Forget Toluna, I am very impressed by the number of felines now surveying. Are any of these girls?? Unfortunately my man had me done, but I am still able to appreciate beauty when I see it.

I too have had my share of problems with Toluna but have perservered with it and its ways because the genuine people on it are nice people and the vouchers are worth the time spent acquiring them as at the end of the day they are free and for me a way to interact with others.

I get no surveys at all now so just do the mini polls.80000 points takes about 3 months for me, then 2 months for the e voucher.I'll keep them for the 4 x £15 vouchers per annum.

Everything that Briskem and Tashatam have recounted about Toluna is
100% accurate. Yes, you can close your account. However, leaving doesn't solve anything .... you lose out on the positives like some of the interactions with some of the members, the vouchers which do eventually arrive (even though the time it takes is ridiculous) and also it is better to be a thorn in the side than to just not bother.Everyone should just email them until they up their game or some other company buys them out and conditions improve !!!!

One big toluna strike, is that the idea? Sounds good, it's just that I don't think survey sites have unions.... :(
