We had our cavity wall insulation done for free a few years ago when we were on benefits for a while, it has made a difference and you can get grants for cavity wall and loft insulation if you dont qualify for free, up to 70% off, so it may be worth inquiring if you are on a pension, benefits, low income, disibility, as you could get it all for free if you own your home.
I would reccomend it, and personally i could not believe we got it for free, but was so grateful, obviously. www.insulationgrants.info/warmfront

well I tried the site and it says that my walls are solid so I can't have it done but although my cottage is pre 1924 and stone built I know it has cavity walls!!!

hi Keith we are the same, but because we have two layers of solid stone it does not constitute 'cavity' walls .
