Received an e mail for a new survey but when I accessed the survey via the link I received an error message advising me that the website's security certificate has expired and advised me to close the web page accordingly.

Has anyone else had this please?

Actually it is fairly common, John, to receive an error message like this and is more to do with your PC set up (I think - ask Baggy or George, the techy experts on this one, I am not 100%) than the fact that it has actually expired. I usually just click on yes and proceed and have never had any problems completing the survey thereafter.

Cheers LizzieAnn,I'll give it a go as it will put me above the 9000 points redemption.

Why I like surveys: Mostly for the rewards but I like getting to review and test products and ideas before they hit the shops and I enjoy mini-polls where you get to see how others have voted.

Look out for changes in the Synovate set up as I read an article a few days ago with following heading -

Ipsos has completed its acquisition of Synovate, bringing together around 16,000 employees in 84 countries to create the world’s third-largest research company. Now comes the task of integrating the two businesses, which Ipsos hopes to get done by February 2012.

What will happen to the Synovate brand?

It will disappear, more or less. All the branding will change in January. We want to have a coherent organisation and branding is part of that. If you have too many brands, you don’t know where you’re going.

Can't say I will miss it much as it seemed to take forever to reach 9000 points for a measly £5 cheque or the recently added vouchers.

Jilly101, thankyou for that info. I was unaware of them joing forces. What makes it worse for me is I do not like IPSOS as a survey company, many others will disagree. At present I have 2850 points with Synovate and quite frankly I think I will unsubscribe from them as their surveys are getting longer for little reward. Thanks for the info.

Jilly101 I thank you too...that is very valuable information. I do not like Synovate and as you have all said, it takes forever to get to 9000 points. On the other hand, I really like IPSOS, unlike you George, and feel that they are a company with a lot of integrity. I have won three times in their newsletter competitions, just extra points, but every little helps. I think it is a very useful thing to know regarding their joining forces and I for one shall pay close attention to the combined result in January. Thanks again.

I also remember doing that light survey, John, and you were right it was boring....not a man thing, but then not a woman thing either really!!

If you get a warning that a site security has failed, it is probably due to a late renewal of the site certificate. Some virus checkers are much more tough on this than others. Provided it does not indicate that the site has been reported as corrupted, or invaded in some way, it is probably OK to proceed, but at your own risk. I cannot conceive that the problem is within your PC and it is probably just a lazy software man at the the survey site. Be careful how you set up the accounts you use for your surveys. There is a risk of attracting a Trojan if you use an account set up as an administrator. It is better to use an account set up with limited ability.

I knew you would know the answer, Baggy, you are nothing short of genius!! :)

Unfortunately not so LizzieAnn, much though I may wish. Personally I use BullGuard as my safety shield. This updates itself about every 2 hours, so you always have the best protection, but it also means that it is very tough on anything that looks untoward, but in my view that is what I want, as I use my machines to develop software. It also carries quite a heavy overhead on machine usage, so it does slow things down, but well worth it in my view.

I have never heard of Bullguard but the name is very descriptive, isn't it?! :) Safety is paramount, I agree, and my husband is fanatical about updating his AVG regularly so we never really have any major problems, touch wood. I know you are a little genius in your own way, though, pussycat!! ;)

I think that Baggy is being modest here. With so many profound statements and information over the months, I reckon he could be another Stephen Hawkins in disguise.

It is a good disguise, though, George....all furry and lovable!! :)

You are all too nice. BullGuard updates automatically so you do not have to think about it. That is one of the reasons why it can slow things up as it has decided to go and look for the latest information. Quick one for Lizzie. I am 60p from a OnePoll payout and they seem to have stopped offering me surveys. Did that happen to you when you were down to 50p??

No, not really, they never offer me any!! I just visit the site religiously and take all that are available...I never get email invitations from them! I must admit I was £1 away for about a fortnight, but take heart, it will work out, and happy spending....don't forget to ask for Paypal instead of a cheque or otherwise as they pay you almost instantly! :)
