SCS No Customer Service

After many weeks now and numerous emails, telephone calls and letters, SCS finally contacted us to say that they were getting new cushions made for my mums new suite. Why on earth they had to be so nasty and disrespectful in between is beyond me. They said that the person sitting on the sofa was too heavy. My mum sat there and she is only 10 stone wet through. Then they had to get nasty on the phone and in their letters saying that my mum was stupid and did not know a thing about furniture and the suite was perfect. This really angered me to the point I took the cushions from the sofa to the store were mum had bought the suite and made the manager and the sales girl who sold it to sit on the cushions on an exact same suite, but with my mums cushions on. They both agreed there was a problem. Did they apologise NO. Now 2 weeks after saying the suite needed new cushions mum is still waiting and when I rang them to ask what the hold up was I was told "To stop being so impatient and be grateful they were replacing the cushions"!
If only I had the name for the MD or Chairman of SCS I would let them know in no uncertain terms what I think of them and their customer service department.
All I can say to anybody thinking of purchasing from SCS, do so at your peril. They are nasty.

Well done, Tracey, that is just what George needs, the chance to really give them something to think about and to make them realize they are not dealing with some poor old lady who cannot stand up for herself!!! It is disappointing that things have to be taken this far with any company as they should realize the knock-on effects in terms of sales and good will they are losing when they are nasty to even one customer.

Good luck, George, and do let us know how you get on, I know you will. I would love to see a copy of the letter you are writing to them, if you could show it to me? :)

Many thanks to John for prompting me about this SCS problem.
Here is the final chapter.
As those who followed were aware, SCS would not accept responsability for a very substandard suite which my mum had purchased from them in september 2011. Eventually after many phone calls and a couple of visits to there store at the Gateshead Metro Centre, they sent someone out to the home to look at the suite and admitted that there was a fault with the suite. Mum was promised the improvements and new cushions would be all done by the first week in December, which they were not. Not by christmas week, not by new year week. It was actually Friday 27th January 2012, before mum eventually got her suite the way it should have been delivered.
Now to cap it all off and the following is no lie, at approximately 13.30 on the afternoon of the 27th Jan, I received a call on my mobile and this is as close as to what was said.
"Mr Davison we have been trying to get an answer at your door since 10.30am, but nobody is answering"
"The reason no one is answering is because no one is in. Anyway, you were supposed to ring to let us know you were coming"
"We did, we rang the house phone but no one answered"
"Did that not tell you no one was in and to ring the mobile number"
" I am ringing now"
"Well had you rang my mobile sooner I could have arranged to have someone there to let you in"
"How long are going to be then"
"I dont know as I am visiting my father in hospital who is critically ill. Ring me back in ten minutes and I will see what I can do"
"Well if nobody is here in 15 minutes we will take it back and it will be weeks before a new delivery is made"
"You stay were you are until someone gets there and in the meantime I am ringing your boss and let him know all about this and especially your failure to ring us the day before delivery". Ended call.
I got my cousin to go to mums house and let them in after collecting the keys from me at the hospital, thankfully only ten minutes away.
Due to my father deteriating and then dying 5 days later, I never got round to calling SCS and relating what happened until 12th March.
As you have probably guessed, no apology!. Did it surprise me, no. Would I ever suggest SCS to anyone, a big resounding no. This company has to be the pits of Customer Service and to cap it all off, my father never got the chance to sit in his new seat.
AVOID SCS LIKE THE PLAGUE

George, that is DISCRACEFUL treatment that SCS gave you, it has really annoyed and upset me reading that.
If I was you I would contact your local Department of Fair Trading, and also contact BBC Watchdog.

Julie2, yes the whole situation was a disgrace of the highest order.
I have had a word with the Citizens Advice, but they say there is nothing we can do. They also said that they are fully aware of the practices SCS carry out with regards to Customer Service and have been advising many people on what course of action to take against them,Via courts.
I will throw mud at SCS any chance I get and will never forgive them for the disgraceful manner in which they treated my mother.

Poor George, what an appalling story. Yes, do keep us posted as to what happens. It really added to what was an already difficult time for you and your family and you want to really make the watchdog people aware of this, that is very important. Do not let these swine off the hook! Go get 'em Leo!! :)
