It is so difficult this, I tried to join last night and had no end of trouble. I emailed them as I only got past the first page. I think maybe I might be in but I am struggling as I so so so wanted to do this. Did you get in OK??

and in fact, now the message is coming up saying the Adpoints trial is full, so I don't think I was successful.

Were you able to join OK, briskie? It was such a struggle and I wrote a long complaint to Nectar who sent me a link so I could then ask Adpoints what the trouble is. I have had no reply. Nectar did explain they were inundated....however to everyone who was unsuccessful, don't be too disappointed, as in 3 months time in 2012 this will be available to all Nectar users, like Maximiles, we will be able to watch ads for Nectar points, which will be a real bonus and we should see our points building up wonderfully which of course you can exchange for Amazon vouchers, my favourite!! I am sad I didn't get in, but keeping hopeful for the future.

I did too briskem1 =) it was thoughtful of you to give that link away but it makes me wonder just how many people shouldnt of joined, after all it was only meant for people that actually got the email, id be mad right now if it was full just because of others that joined through links. I agree, spidey, it was only Nectar card holders who should have joined, and I would be mad just to think everyone who joined were just following internet links, too!! I am still awaiting some sort of satisfaction from customer services because I was really really peeved to have missed out on this one because my page went grey at stage 2....I will let you know if I get any joy.

yes LizzieAnne you had to have joined nectar anyhows, but my main concern was the private link sent to specific people, only them should of joined, it wasnt meant for everybody who had an nectar account. As a rule i dont mind links but private ones i feel should remain private or sent to secretly friends emails and not on forums where a mass of people can also join. My email specifically told me not to pass it on.

I tried it to but it was full...oh well can't win them all..did get invited to the elite shopping forum though so not all bad

It was a link briskem put up for the Adpoints campaign Nectar card are running and Nectar card holders were sent invitations to join and they only needed 7500 people to join and there were problems with the site crashing and it being full really quickly. I hope that makes sense? It seems that Nectar are going to do what Maximiles do and let you watch ads for points....a brilliant way to earn a few pennies! Pity I missed out, I was very disappointed.

Take heart Briskem1, you saw the opportunity to help others earn and quickly posted here. Thats great for us to have that head start. I tried but was told it was full, thats my hard luck not your fault. But it appears that something which happened last year is happening again. When face to face it is easy to have a joke and a wind up with someone, however, when posting on forums it is not possible to hear a tone in the voice, or to see an expression on a face. A bit like when you posted about the last minute warning site for eBay. I was laughing when I was typing my reply and not being serious. It was a gentle leg pull because you basically built it up to be a super duper sensational bit of info. It was very good information, but not for the regular specific user and I could not resist telling you why, but it only applied to me and the specific items I buy and not what others may think. I hope you understand now and realise we do appreciate your quick info, just some folk, like me, will always have a joke about it and not intend to be offensive in any which way.

I so agree about all of your posting George....tone of voice is impossible to regulate on the forum or in an email, and some people are very sensitive souls. I have often been very upset by things posted on the forum which have been meant as jokes, and EVERYONE gets upset when I turn into a schoolmarm and correct their spelling LOL....but I am just trying to help.

I do agree, that it is difficult to strike a balance, but a joke can misfire if the recipient is even in the wrong frame of mind.

We all like to have fun, and that is what to remember when posting on the forum, I think, just have fun, kick back, let your hair down (unless you are follicly challenged!! i.e. bald) and let it all hang out.....in other words, if you don't take yourself too seriously no-one else will either.

My main reason for posting the nectar topic was that I have noticed that only about 20 or so people reply on here on a regular basis, so it was a good call on my part as it seemed such a small forum base. Also it would not compromise anyone, ie if only 5 people joined from here that already used nectar but had not read or discarded the initial email it would not effect the other 7,495 people who got an email and took up the offer.And maybe those who want to advise on how to be politically correct remember this is 'supposed' to be a help each other forum! xxx

Absolutely the only thing to remember, briskie, is that we should all be helping each on here and in the world. Too many people are out for looking after number 1 and not helping anyone but themselves. Life is too short to be so selfish. I do wish I had been able to join though, I am sad about that, as it would have translated itself into a lot of Amazon vouchers in time for Christmas!!

errr not that many really..1000 points for joining and a max of 850 per month [which I have already reached in 2 days] and a further 850 per month for jan/feb so basically only £7.50 payable two days before christmas and to late for amazon deliveries ...they are cunning foxes!!!

I was pleased to learn that when I finally got in and joined, briskie...NOT!!! Cunning, I do agree....23rd December....850 points...but they have capped it at that, and only 1000 points for joining which is awarded at the end of the trial. Fortunately my daughter's 21st birthday is on February 5th and my birthday is on 3rd March so I can hopefully use some then....but not in time for Christmas, you are right, very cunning!!
