SMILE!

9:33pm 31st Aug 2007

A smile really brightens up a persons day. It doesn't take much effort and it is really rewarding. Try to smile everyday and find something pleasant to think about helps to banish the blues. Whatever the weather, whatever the mood, smiling people make the world seem a much better place. I was in fine spirits when I went to the bank early this month and the bank teller was obviously in a really bad mood. My children were with me and they passed comment to me as they also saw the tellers face. I said that all he needs to do is smile and the day will fly by before he knows it (after all, people do say that time flies when you're having fun!). I understand that banks may not be the funnest of places to work but being in the public eye, at least he should have made an effort surely. I often put the smile theory to the test myself, especially when I am playing really bad at bowls (in that case it is almost all of the time!)and I find my game gets better and I can actually do it. Today I went into the same bank and the teller was all happy and smiley even though I gave him loads of bags of small change to bank (I am a club treasurer so I did the monthly banking, groan, groan, groan) and he actally laughed. The children noticed the difference and customer satisfaction was 100%.
