After being invited to an Easter fancy dress part I purchased a bunny girl outfit from Ann summers...after trying it on and pondering (I was concerned about my figure as I only had a baby 4 months ago and like some people didn’t ping back into shape).
I asked the staff if I changed my mind if I could have a refund, I was told that I could within 28 days and was also advised by the two members of staff to pay cash in case someone else had to bring it back on my behalf. On hearing this I paid £32, not a huge sum but enough. Having then got home I changed my mind and took the outfit back to Ann Summers where I was met by a very rude member of staff...the same one who was there when I bought it only to be told I could not have a refund, when I asked why she just said no and gave me a number for head office, which i rang but was told by them ‘no’ too ..this really annoys me as both staff are lying through their teeth about what they said to me, so now I am stuck with an outfit I’ll never wear from a shop i will never visit again!

Next time, stick with a fancy dress shop. Ann Summers is there to sell tat at a high price to a corner of the market. You didn't fit in that corner.

You've been made to pay for having poor taste in costumes I'm afraid. Did you think you were Bridget Jones? ;0

I wouldn't just leave the situation now. Persue it further, write a letter of complaint to Ann Summers head office/customer service and cc the same letter to Citizens Advice. You'll probably find they'll be more eager to help when others are involved

Aren't Ann Summers outfits designed to come apart? ;-)

You could always return it because it's faulty (I'm sure you could find something wrong with it) - they're then obliged to give you your money back under your Statutory Rights!

I nor, ally pay by credit card, as the cc company are usually happy to add their oomph to a complaint.
Also, in a similar situation, get the member of staff to sign their agreement

I had a similar thing when purchasing a matress for my daughter. When buying we made sure to ask if it had a return and were told yes 14 days. So when it arrived we put it on the bed still in the wrapper ( after being informed it would olny be refunded with wrapper) and after 2 nights she found it to be extremely un confortable. So we called the shop told them and were told it would not be accepted for a refund. So we now have one daughter on her old matress with a spring sticking out and a £400 matress that is of no use to use at all.We dont have the cash available to buy another.

I think its disgusting the way some shop assistants treat us.My daughter took some clothes back to a certain shop as her boyfriend didnt like the clothes she had bought him, when they refunded her they gave her a forged 20 pound note, when she told the assistant she denied she had given it to her,but my daughter only had the 20 pound note they had given her,and no other money, she was told it was forged when she purchased something from the shop next door,i just wish i had been with her as i would of got the police involved, they where calling my daughter a liar.
